About the event
MPG members, Beckview Studios in Scarborough, will be hosting a Masterclass in recording to Analogue Tape on Saturday 15th March 2025. Utilising the studio's pristine condition MCI JH-24 24 track 2" tape machine, in house studio engineer Chris Jones, alongside BBC trained studio support engineer Iain Betson from Reel Resilience, will take you through the demystifying processes of using tape in a session during this all day event.
The days will focus on artistic considerations and operations. And will cover topics Including:
An overview of tape and the tape-recording process
Selecting a tape type for your machine
Setting the tape and the recorder up for a session
