Recording & Music Production Summer School 2024

This July, we are thrilled to be bringing a Recording and Music Production Summer School to Beckview Studios. Due to take place from July 8th to July 10th.

This intensive 3-day workshop, led by industry professionals with decades of experience, offers practical hands-on training in recording, mixing, and mastering processes within a professional recording studio environment.

Our team includes Chris Jones, Beckview Studios Founder and Chief Engineer / Producer. Chris taught Live Sound and Music Technology at Undergraduate and Post-graduate level at the University of Hull for many years, and more recently as an associate lecturer at the University of York. His comprehensive background in education, passion for music production, and extensive time spent in a professional studio environment will ensure attendees receive exceptional tuition and hands on experience.

Joining Chris to run the summer school is Jim Taylor, a professional musician, audio engineer, and music festival director for Headland Festivals who is committed to grassroots music. With 25 years in the creative sector, Jim has a wealth of experience as a promoter, performer, and presenter. He has also developed specialised teaching techniques for neurodiverse individuals and those outside the mainstream education system through his work designing and delivering bespoke sessions for North Yorkshire Council, Scarborough Pupil Referral Service, and ARCADE ARTS.

Together, they bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to guide you through the intricacies of music production.

During the workshop, participants will have the unique opportunity to work with live musicians, gaining valuable experience in real-world recording scenarios. This immersive learning experience sets our school apart as the first of its kind to be held at Beckview Studios.

The cost of the workshop is £250, and the timings are from 10am to 6pm each day.

No prior skills required to take part in this summer school, however an interest in music and desire to learn are essential.
